Stir Fried spinach with Shrimp---Shaag Bhaji Chingri Diye


Spinach is an ingredient that is so light and flavouful yet so filling and wholesome at the same time. It is packed with fibers and antioxidants and low in calories. If you can make yourself like spinach if you don't  already love it, you might be surprised at how good it makes you feel after a big bowl.


For hardcore spinach fans, a little oil, salt and pepper works well. For the rest of us though, who need a little push to live and eat healthy, there are so many things that can be added to spinach to make it something to savour instead of just swallow.

This particular dish uses very few ingredients and is typically enjoyed with rice, but can be had by itself as the shrimp does wonders to enhance its flavour.

Ingredients
1 tsp oil
7-8 shrimp, washed and deveined
1 bunch fresh spinach
1/2 onion chopped
1 clove garlic minced
1 green chilli slit or to taste
a pinch or turmeric (optional)
salt to taste

Method
1) Heat oil in a skillet and drop in the onion, garlic and chilli and fry till sweated out.
2) Add the shrimp and turmeric and fry till shrimp turn opaque
3) Add the spinach, season with salt and cook covered stirring occasionally until wilted and all the water has evaporated.
